reasons to visit us
Lordship Lane is a picture-perfect slice of South London life
East Dulwich has an abundance of independent local shops and women-led businesses with an easy-going vibe – the atmosphere is what perfect Sundays are made for.
There is a village atmosphere about it, with some serious community spirit on display. Unsurprisingly, this is prime territory for new young families as well as those who have well-worn the pavements as long-life londoners. There’s also a healthy dose of young Londoners who like to hang out here.
The top of the street is where the action is – and that’s where we are located. There are your high-street regulars (Co-op, Caffè Nero, Foxtons) as well asplaces to drink and eat food. Further south, is the locally famous Horniman Museum, with its strange taxidermy and cabinets of weird and wonderful musical instruments. Enid Blyton was born at number 354 and a blue plaque marks the spot. Today it’s the Dulwich DIY store (where you can often find us getting out bits and bobs). Lordship Lane is a great place to discover a world of food and culture.
East Dulwich Picturehouse housed in a converted Victorian building that has a light, breezy bar at the front and seating outside, it shows a mix of Hollywood hits and indie fare. Delicate sandwiches and indulgent home bakes at Le Chandelier for a Champagne afternoon tea. Sourdough pizza at Franco Manca. Oysters at Franklins. Local beers at East Dulwich Tavern. Or a Square Mile coffee at Brick House, a compact bakery and café (round the corner from Caffè Nero), which serves up award-wining loaves and top-notch cinnamon buns. Gooey brie from Cheese Block. Sausages from William Rose Butchers. Spring bouquets from the ever-inspiring Fresh Flower Company (North Cross Road) just off the Lane. Arguably the finest place to feast is Toasted. East Dulwich is a hotspot for great food and drink.
