Mastering Your Two-Week Hearing Aid Trial with Clearly Hearing

Mastering Your Two-Week Hearing Aid Trial with Clearly Hearing
At Clearly Hearing, we’re not just focused on fitting you with a hearing aid. We’re dedicated to understanding the full picture of your hearing health to provide you with the best possible personalized hearing solution. So, what does this process look like?
Day 1: The Comprehensive Hearing Assessment and Fitting
When you first visit our clinic, we start with an in-depth examination and assessment of your hearing abilities. This comprises several critical tests, each providing unique insights about your hearing health:
Visual Examination of Your Ear: We’ll begin with a visual inspection of your ear, ear canal, and ear drum to ensure their physical health and integrity.
Hearing Sensitivity Test (Pure Tone Audiometry): This essential test provides a measurement of your hearing sensitivity and helps us determine the type and degree of your hearing loss. During this test, you’ll wear a headset and listen to a series of tones at various frequencies and intensities. Your job is to signal each time you hear a tone, no matter how soft. The results are recorded on an audiogram.
Functional Brain Hearing Tests: These tests are designed to understand how your brain processes and interprets sound, particularly complex sounds like speech, and in challenging environments. Two major tests in this category are:
- Speech Audiometry: This test measures your ability to discriminate speech, giving a more ‘real world’ perspective of your hearing. It also carries diagnostic information, indicating where in the auditory system the hearing loss lies, which helps us determine the potential benefit you may receive from a personalized hearing solution.
- Speech-in-Noise Tests: These tests measure your ability to hear speech in noisy environments, reflecting your ‘real-world’ hearing and listening abilities better.
Cognitive Function Tests: At Clearly Hearing, we also evaluate the key cognitive skills that are essential for successful hearing and communication. Successful and effortless hearing relies heavily on cognitive skills like filtering distractions, focusing attention, processing information, and memory. Our unique approach enables us to offer genuinely individualized support.
After this comprehensive assessment, we will professionally fit your hearing aids, taking the time to explain how to correctly insert and remove them, adjust settings, and conduct proper maintenance.
Day 2-3: Familiarization Phase
For the first few days, your goal is to get comfortable with your hearing aids by wearing them for at least four hours each day.
Day 4-7: Experimentation Phase
This is the time to begin experiencing the difference in various listening environments. The coffee shop, the park, a quiet room at home – try them all!
Day 8: Second Visit to Our Clinic
During this visit, we will address any issues or concerns that may have come up over the week. We’ll adjust settings if necessary, and guide you on further exploring the capabilities of your hearing aids.
Day 9-13: Increased Usage and Connectivity Features
This period is all about getting the full hearing aid experience. Increase your usage to at least six hours per day and explore connectivity features such as Bluetooth or telecoil.
Day 14: Follow-Up Call and Outcome Measure
We’ll conduct a follow-up call to review your experiences, make any final adjustments if necessary, and have you fill out a post-trial outcome measure.
Your feedback is crucial to us. The outcome measure helps us understand your experiences and make any further adjustments required. This step-by-step process ensures we cater to your specific hearing needs and help you get the most from your hearing aids.
Remember, our team at Clearly Hearing is here to support you throughout your journey to better hearing. We look forward to working with you.
